I was wondering about the "Gallery" section on this site.  In a perfect fossil web world, I'd like to click on the Gallery link on the menu to the left and see the pictures that everyone puts in there, but what I actually see is a limited number of entries.  Is there any way to get that link to go to the place where most of the pics are loaded? 

I love this site...just wondering if spoiled web fossilin' folks like me could be pacified easily .  I simply would like to browse it to see all of the cool pics without having to go insert something (without actually inserting anything).

That is a good question! I just went and did an experiment to try it out. I actually think I got it working. Would one of you friendly fossil forum people try to add a picture to a forum post so I can test the experiment? Thanks!

DW, I posted a pic in a new thread under the shark teeth section.  The filename of the pic is "Calvert_Chubutensis" on page 28.

awesome, thanks for testing it for me! I needed to make sure my changes did not inhibit the intended use of the forum gallery. I'll be putting up the forum photo gallery into the navigation  over there on the upper left soon, as well as a few others you might enjoy browsing.

Thanks DW for making a great site even better!  I love the gallery because I can get lost in the pictures, almost like collecting!  I successfully uploaded some to a thread today too, so all is good.

I'm not sure if it helps, but when I click on the gallery the URL is:

http://www.blackriverfossils.org/Gallery/tabid/68/Default.aspx

I see a thumbnail for:

1)   forum images that has one G. aduncus pic

2)   New Jersey Artifacts

3)   New York Artifacts

The reason that I'm posting this is because I wondered if everyone saw the same thing that I did...

I have been messing around with the galleries this morning so if you experienced anything strange that was probably the reason. When you click the image galleries link in the upper left, you are taken to a new page with links to the various galleries. As of right now, there are three links on that page. One for the forum images, one for artifacts (which itself has two galleries for New Jersey and New York artifacts) and finally, one for my images.

I plan on adding image galleries for the long time / prolific posters on this site in the coming days. Even though the images are all available under the trip reports / fossils sections, I think this is a great way to present the images. Super idea Fat Boy!

Sometimes the thumbnails appear blank and the reason is because there are so many images in the respective folders that the gallery doesn't load them all into its cache. But if you click the link below the thumbnail, you should be able to see a full picture.
