Brf has been around for a while. I started posting my fossils online in the late 90s. I met a bunch of people that way who also wanted to share their finds so I built ditchweezil.net in the early 2000s. It also featured the first fossil forum that i had. That lasted a few years and then more people wanted to join so I changed the name to blackriverfossils.org and built a new site. The forum really took off when I switched everything over.

In the beginning there was darkness; and then ditchweezil said: "Let there be a website," and there was. And it was good.

And then the ditchweezil said, "Let there be a new website. Let it be called www.blackriverfossils.org. Let it feature fossils from all over, from fishes and mammals, and let all the people discuss them." And so it came to pass. And it was very good.
