Cool! What kind?

For myself, the top 3 "finds in strange places."

3. A decent pointy little shark tooth, in a culvert quite a bit higher than the level of the ocean, Florida. ("It's not where the ocean is now that is important, it's where it was.")

2. A piece of petrified wood in a trash heap outside of a local auction house... and what a piece! A 28-inch "rotten hollow log" that was really 35 ponds of high-grade agate! (The auctioneers thought it was a very ugly fake fireplace log and threw it out.)

1. A fossilized shark tooth on the floor of the bathroom of the place where I used to work... after I had already mopped and was ready to close up, and nobody had been in the building since I had cleaned. The tooth was just lying out there in the middle of the floor. I had been thinking about shark teeth (a lot a lot a lot), and suddenly, there one was, nobody around, no logical explanation -- on a bathroom floor in northern Vermont.

that's really funny SD. I guess if you want it bad enough then it will happen... lol try the same thing but instead of a fossil think about $1,000,000. we can split whatever you find! :)

The stitching came out of an old pair of waders I had while I was fossil hunting in Calvert Cliffs. I guess I should clarify that... the stitching came out of the top part of the reinforced knee pad creating a pocket on my knees... I like to practice the Pungo crawl when I'm out there... when I got home I noticed that I unknowingly brought some micro-material home with me in my new "pockets." I figured that I'd capture this opportunity and go thru it... sure enough I had a nice little tooth in there...

I was also walking along the beach one time in VA and felt something sharp poke me in the foot. I had on water shoes... I figured it was a small shell fragment so I shook my foot a few times as I continued to walk hoping to dislodge it. After several steps I realized that I needed to try a different method. I sat down and pulled off my shoe... sure enough there was a TINY little sand tiger tooth stuck in my foot, and of course it was bleeding... I said outloud "who knew that this little tooth would have drawn blood one more time!!" lol

I found fossilized leaves, wood and oyster shells in a rock core of volcanic ash 60 feet below the bottom of Pearl Harbor. Rather unusual, eh?

That was a mean little sand tiger! Was it fossilized? Kind of funny you were bitten by a dead shark!

I tried the bit with thinking a lot about money... the last time I found 4 pennies. I'll send you two of them if you like.

Neat about the fossilized stuff under Pearl Harbor! Gotta always be looking, wherever you are!
