Hey everyone! I've been busy the past few months traveling for the holidays. I'm back at work again working in GA, so hopefully I'll be able to find some Indian artifacts because the fossils seem to be somewhat limited here... I'm working in Baxley, so if anyone has a cool spot to fossil hunt or artifact hunt near me please let me know via email. Or if you're in the area and just want to shoot the breeze then email me... it's pretty boring here when I'm not working... lol

Hmmm.... according to the book I got a while back at a yard sale, there are bottle-green tektites to be found up the pike in Dodge County -- Jay Bird, Empire, and Plainfield township, in fields, etc. Looks like there are some "gem-quality" tektites in Irwin County, Osierfield area. Not exactly fossils, but still, something to find.
I've got Waycross circled on one of my maps, but who knows why --? (If I could remember everything I knew, I'd be pretty smart!)
There is gold in the hills of Georgia. Kind of cold right now for panning, I suppose but cool stuff does turn up while panning. Fossils... diamonds... garnets.... artifacts.... broken glass... uranium...

All right, found something else. If you don't mind to make a little trip over to Statesboro, you can at least see some fossils. At the Georgia Southern University they apparently have a 26-ft Mosasaur fossil and some other fossils. Sounds like admission is free. They also have a nature trail. Phone # 912-681-5444. I bet if you talk to the right people there they could even give you some fossil tips!

Good luck!

There are also several rock clubs in Georgia. Check out the website at amfed.orgsfms/club-ga-ky-html OK, something doesn't look quite right with that address. I know the amfed.org part is right, anyway --
